Description
California produces 90 percent of the wine made in the United States. Napa and Sonoma are the best known and largest areas for winemaking. The Livermore Valley is lesser known and probably the oldest wine region in California. Even a lesser known fact is that there are over 15 winemakers in California who are African American. This tour and panel discussion visits a black-owned tasting room, Longevity, and hear from several black vintners about the challenges they face from a planning prospective, including land use, sustainability, permitting hurdles and environmental issues.
Learn about land use, environmental permitting issues related to site vineyards and tasting rooms; sustainable winemaking practices; and what skills are need to break into the wine industry.
