PBCD 30th Anniversary Legacy Report

From the introduction: Indeed, PBCD has accomplished much and has much

to commemorate. And, this report highlights many of the great accomplishments of the Division. Most importantly, in addition to commemorating 30 years, this report serves as a resource for future leaders and potential allies to learn more about PBCD.

The report begins with an Introduction, ‘Emerging from the Storm’, that outlines the events leading to the creation of PBCD. It places the establishment of the Division and the increased numbers of Black planners within the historical context and influence of such federal programs as the1968 Civil Rights Act.

It describes how this group of professionals formed the predecessor organization National Association of Planners (NAP), which eventually dissolved and led to the birth of PBCD.
